These are the new designs I have just completed for Maison & Objet, Paris and they build on my previous work in felt.

The Conran store

These coloured rugs were done for the Conran store's Rangoli show which was a celebration of India design and designers. 14 designers were chosen to display their work at the Conran stores in London, NY, Paris and Tokyo.

For Habitat

This was a rug I made a couple of years ago as part of my final project at NID. It was later retailed by Habitat and was my first experience in handling production of hundreds of pieces of my design. The rug was retailed as the "jigisha Rug".

I mostly use the natural colours of merino and manipulate these to get tonal variations and these pictures might give you an inkling of this. Another feature of these designs is the combination of handmade and industrial processes. These rugs are possible mainly because of this combination

Applique

The ralli is a traditional coverlet decorated with a particular form of applique. These provided the inspiration for this particular design that I worked out in felt. What I particularly like about these forms is play between the precise design and how they move about during felting. A sign of the process
